In today’s digital age, where data is the lifeblood of businesses and organizations, cybersecurity has become a top priority. With the increasing reliance on cloud computing, virtualization technologies, and complex IT infrastructures, understanding the components that make these systems secure is crucial. One such component is the hypervisor — a key player in virtualization that plays a significant role in cybersecurity. In this blog, we will explore what a hypervisor is, its types, and how it impacts cybersecurity.

What is a Hypervisor?

A hypervisor, also known as a Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM), is a piece of software, firmware, or hardware that creates and runs virtual machines (VMs). Essentially, it allows multiple operating systems to share a single hardware host. Each operating system appears to have the host’s processor, memory, and resources all to itself, but in reality, the hypervisor is controlling and allocating resources to each operating system as needed.

Hypervisors are integral to virtualization — a technology that allows you to run multiple virtual environments on a single physical machine. Virtualization is widely used in data centers, cloud computing, and various other IT environments due to its efficiency, flexibility, and…
